We are currently running a two day Product Development Symposium in Brisbane for leading edge accounting firms. The idea is to help the accountants take what they know and transfer it into something that they can sell hundreds of times, with minimal labour intensity. This morning, the group brainstormed a range of new products that they could (and will) create. Interestingly, most of the content of the products is already done and is being delivered in an ad hoc way. Not untypically in professional services, when a client has a need, the professional delivers. But very little thought is traditionally given to how many others clients might have a similar need and how the firm could leverage the ‘product’ to those people. Turning a service into a product is a major key.
Our innovation guru, Jonathan Coleman, is running a session this afternoon on how to create a video that positions and sells the product. Just as it was when we last ran the event in Hamilton Island last December, the attendees are hanging onto Jono’s every word. It is mind-blowing stuff – yet simple to implement when you ‘get’ it.
We’re running this event two more times. Find out more at www.productsymposium.com.
